How
often do you read? Do you read for pleasure or is it a chore? Do you read
to obtain facts and figures or do you undertake reading for a higher purpose?
Whatever your reasons for reading you'll probably agree that reading is
an important and necessary part of your life.
Reading has been around throughout modern history. Just as writing has a style of its own, so reading can be
viewed in the same way. reading is done by people at different times,
in different places and in different ways. reading can be done quickly,
especially where work is concerned. reading can be done slowly, savoring
every word. This type of reading is usually for pleasure rather than work.
reading is different things to different people. And, reading could be
so much more.
Reading for pleasure is one of the greatest
gifts given to man. reading can expand your horizons. reading can
lead you into worlds you couldn't get to without the printed word. reading
can teach and invigorate you and reading can challenge you. Without reading
your brain would be in danger of stagnating. Certainly the development
of your brain would be restricted without reading. Think of all the things
you have learned through reading something not because you were told,
but because it was in a book.
But, putting aside reading for pleasure,
we must also look at reading as a tool for advancement. reading
at work, in the office and at home is growing as a demand of the job.
It might be reading electronic pages as well as paper, but the demand
for your reading skills is growing. reading for work is usually something
you'd like to do more quickly. A lucky few take pleasure from reading
texts for work. As a result, the demand for faster reading is increasing.
There are a number of ways that you can improve the speed of your reading.
Speed reading is a skill that you can develop. Many say that they'd rather
read more slowly and fully understand. BUT, the key to speed reading is
to READ FASTER AND UNDERSTAND.
Reading Genius by Ed Strachar has been
proven to increase the speed of your reading and not just by a few words
a minute. You can increase your reading speed from anywhere from
5x-10X PAGES a minute, and still retain recognition and understanding.
Amazing? According to Ed Strachar not so. He states along with many others
that 95% of our brains are under-utilized, and that the key to reading
is unlocking that potential. He teaches you to get into a "genius"
state before you read. I suggest you find out more about it!
Reading faster may not be something that seems initially
desirable, but when you consider how much of your reading is work related,
it may be necessary!
